When it comes time to write up a review for a sponsored post or product, it’s important to choose the ideal outfit. Today, I’m here to share my top 9 tips so that you can look great, please your client, and excite your audience!
1. Think about what fits you best—in both looks and in writing.
Pick the item or look that you think matches up with you. Then consider the color, pattern, and full look of both what you want to (potentially) post and wear.
2. Wear the next big thing.
What’s coming up in the fashion world? What’ll be the new trend? Your answers might change depending on what’s coming up or just passed, such as award season or NYFW.
Pick things that’ll grab your readers’ eyes. Take your time! Do some googling for what’s exciting and trending, but also what your readers are looking for to create strong sponsored content.
3. Decide how you’ll use it.
Do you have an outing coming up? A red carpet? Or do you just need something new to wear? Make your content relateable to your brand and life.
4. Personality is key.
Think about you, your audience, who you are, your blog, and what message you want to express. Fans and friends already follow for you, not just your sponsors. Stay as organic as possible!
5. Picture your photo.
Think about how you’ll shoot it: Will it be an #OOTD or an actual staged shoot? Maybe you’re a travel blogger and it’ll be laid out right out of the suitcase, not even on you.
6. Color me this.
Think about the color and filtering of your look. What’s your theme? What filters will you use, and why?
7. How are you posting?
What type of post will it be? Will it have a quote or something inspirational about the brand or outfit?
8. Be you.
Be authentic! You want people drawn to you, the post, and the brand.
9. Make your audience envision it.
Here’s an example of what I did for one of my favorite new brands, Lady R.
First I showed the way it came to me: in this cute tote bag!
Then I shared the details of the actual dress:
Then I shared what I wore it for and all of the wonderful pictures, plus gave my code for a discount! Lady R gave me $250 to spend as an affiliate and for a sponsored post.
