Creativity is essential to writing great content for your blogs. How many times have you been stuck with nothing but a few dead-end ideas that have already been talked about one time too many? And no matter how hard you push yourself to get creative, find ideas, and write down your next great blog post, you’re not getting the results you want; just end up losing your attention and motivation to finish the tasks.

In this fast-paced society we often forget that we’re only humans, and our bodies and minds need time to rest and repair. Happy and healthy people are creative people, and happiness comes from everyday joys in our lives. Life has a unique way of inspiring you and creating your content. And following are just few ideas how (…that is if you haven’t procrastinated for too long, and now the deadline is here):

Suggested TED Talk: Carl Honore: In praise of slowness

And the book from the National Geographic writer and explorer Dan Buettner: Thrive – Finding Happiness The Blue Zones Way.

Go for a walk. A walk in the park will relax your body and mind, giving energy to the creative urges buried deep within you. And even if you’re not a huge fan of the great outdoors, some kind of exercise in the house will also stimulate your blood flow and work up your creativity. Read how a regular yoga practice is good for your blogging.

Clean something. Have you noticed that we often get the best ideas when we’re doing something mundane, a task that frees up our minds to think? Clean your desk, the office, the whole house, – while being useful you’ll have plenty of time to think. And thinking to creativity is like a spark to a fire. Just make sure there’s a notepad close to you to write down your thoughts. (Check some handy apps for bloggers.)

Surround yourself with beauty. Buy yourself some flowers for your work or home office, a fountain, art or other beautiful acts of nature. If inspiring, our surroundings can truly get our creative mojo up and running.

Listen to music. Some people listen to music all the time, others mostly while working; some prefer to write in silence, others enjoy hearing the sounds of everyday chatter coming from the people they love and live with. Everyone knows what best works for them. Still, research has shown that relaxing sounds, classical or music you like, actually stimulate the nerves, inspire higher brain functioning, and give boost to our creativity. So maybe you should turn it on next time you feel stuck on ideas and inspiration.

Reading stimulates your mind. Also keeps you well informed. Stephen King has said: “If you don’t have time to read, you don’t have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that.

You’ll get lots of great ideas reading someone else’s posts, books, or even readers’ comments on social media. Make sure to save the ideas you won’t work on at this point. One way to do this is to pin them on a secret board on Pinterest (read what else they’re great for).

Socialize, go out with a friend. Talking to a friend, socializing, sharing laughter tends to lighten the mood, sets us into positive thinking and an imaginative state of mind. This is a great base for creativity to thrive. So call a friend you want to see and go out for a little chatting time. :)

Help someone in need. Even the smallest act of help can lighten the load that someone’s been carrying for too long. And this sense of feeling good with yourself can be a great inspiration and a creativity boost to your writing, if you let it truly fill you in, from the inside out.

When negative thoughts start to pollute your mind, – overthinking, fretting and worrying about what you’re going to write next, – you need to stop what you’re doing and step away from the computer. Otherwise, it might get worse. Those were just few of the things you can do in those situations, but I’m sure you have some of your own, most favorite, that you may want to share. Please tell us in the comments.
